If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Security Adviser to join our team at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and we’d love to hear from you!
The Senior Security Advisor (SSA) at the Ministry of Housing, Community and Local Government leads security provision for a busy Department at the heart of central Government and supports the Deputy Prime Minister and wider ministerial team. The SSA leads across the security domains of personnel security, physical security and incident management, and maintains close links with the Cyber Security Team which sits elsewhere functionally in the Ministry.
Your role will be leading the Security Team and you will be responsible for leading a team of nine security experts, including four direct reports at grade 7. The Ministry offers ROSA and other higher classification arrangements which it is in the course of developing at the moment to meet increasing threat and work at higher levels of security. You will also be responsible for directing the work of the Ministerial Security Unit which provides arranges security support and tailored advice to MHCLG ministers.
The SSA is responsible for advising SLT and Ministers of security threat, risk and posture and will manage any incidents as they arise. As the Senior Security Adviser your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the security function for the MHCLG across the domains of personal security, physical security, and incident management
• Advise SLT, senior management, and ministers on security threat, risk, posture and provision in the Department
• Lead the MHCLG Security Team of eight, with direct line management of three grade 7s
• Oversee and be accountable for management of a budget of £1m
• Take forward co-operation with other corporate functions in MHCLG notably the Cyber Security, KIM, PC&C (the MHCLG HR function) and Property Teams
• Act as Secretariat for the Departmental Security Board and attend Insider Research Group meetings
• Lead intelligent client function for relationship with key suppliers such as Protective Security Centre
• Direct the work of the Ministerial Security Unit which provides close support to MHCLG Ministers
