Open Polytechnic now provides initial teacher education (Graduate Diploma Primary, Secondary and Secondary Technology, and Bachelor of Teaching Primary), by way of online learning and a partnership school model.
Open Polytechnic is seeking Adjuncts (Contractors) to mark (assess) learner assessments for the following programmes:

Adjunct activities can include any of the following:
Mark learner assessments electronically via our Online Marking tool, providing accurate, reliable, and valid assessment that is consistent with the marking schedule, and provide feedback that supports ākonga in their learning.
Current or recent Secondary School kaiako who are available to tutor our secondary student teachers. Our students attend 3 tutorials per subject, and these are delivered online. The tutorials are 90mins long, with an additional 90mins of prep time per tutorial. These tutorials cover the subject from junior through to senior school. Adjunct tutors need to be experienced kaiako who are specialist in their subject areas. The tutorials are once a month, and in additional to this, it will also be dependent on the number of students who enrol in that particular subject. These are scheduled after the school day from 4pm onwards.
Current or recent primary or secondary kaiako with the skills required to make lasting connections with a wide range of ākonga and schools throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. The Regional Partnership Coordinator (RPC) is a remote-working position that supports the delivery of the Open Polytechnic’s Initial Teacher Education programmes in primary and secondary schools that partner with our ākonga. The RPC helps to secure school partnerships for ākonga, develops and maintains effective relationships with schools and provides ongoing support for ākonga and mentor teachers engaged in school-based learning. Workload varies based on the timing of enrolment intakes and the individual capacity of RPCs.
Visiting Academic (VA) is in contact with schools for Partner School and Enrolment Support throughout practicum placement. Experienced Primary or Secondary School (current or recent) kaiako throughout the country. This mahi is both online and in person. Our visiting academic’s will be experienced kaiako who ideally will have worked with student teachers before and/or have worked in middle management. Our visiting academics will be the first point of contact for our ākonga while they are on their fulltime 8 weeklong practicums. Initial contact and a midway check in are completed through phone calls. The practicum in person visit in at the end of their practicum also involves a triadic discussion with their Associate Teacher and feedback to our Course Leaders as needed.

This is a contracted Adjunct role which is undertaken part-time and offsite. Training with regards to Open Polytechnic’s expectations will be provided. Fees payable are competitive and reflect the skills and knowledge required to undertake the Adjunct role.
