Institute for Molecular Bioscience Full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to December 2027 Base salary will be in the range $82,057.75 - $109,246.18 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A) Based at our St Lucia Campus - Brisbane About This Opportunity We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to join the Cater and Landsberg Laboratories to study the structure, function, and proteome of key membrane proteins, with a focus on nutrient transport, disease mechanisms at the blood–brain barrier, and pore-forming toxins involved in bacterial virulence. You will use integrated biochemical, biophysical, and high-resolution structural approaches, including single-particle cryo-EM, to define underlying molecular mechanisms. Key responsibilities will include: Research: Perform protein expression and characterisation across bacterial, insect, and mammalian systems using molecular biology, purification, crystallisation, cryo-EM, and biochemical and biophysical analyses. The role involves collaborating on research projects, publications, and grant applications, producing high-quality research outputs, supporting laboratory operations, and developing an emerging independent research profile. Supervision and Researcher Development: Provide effective supervision and development of Honours and HDR students, offer constructive feedback, and manage research staff and issues in line with University policies.
