An excellent, growing Tampa-based company is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing and help document standard operating procedures (SOPs). What You’ll Do:

• Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including wage calculations, adjustments, and deductions
• Maintain and update payroll-related data, including employee records and benefit deductions
• Process various payroll deductions such as garnishments, benefits, and other withholdings
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal payroll laws and tax regulations
• Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies with professionalism and confidentiality
• Execute payroll functions in alignment with company policies and industry best practices
• Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data and sensitive financial information
• Manage multiple payroll tasks while meeting strict deadlines
• Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations
• Continuously evaluate payroll workflows and recommend process improvements

What You Bring:

• Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred
• 2+ years of in-house payroll processing experience; union payroll experience highly preferred
• Basic to intermediate Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience with payroll systems and general office applications
• Ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies independently
• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Comfortable working with diverse teams and across departments
• Strong planning and organizational abilities
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends as needed
