About This Opportunity The School of Mathematics and Physics is looking for tutors who are enthusiastic about sharing their discipline knowledge, who can convey concepts to students with clarity, who are able to provide feedback in a timely fashion, and who are interested in developing and applying teaching strategies to support student learning in a range of different settings. Responsibilities Casual Academic responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Tutoring Marking Teaching Support Background Applicants should possess strong academic background in mathematics or any area of science (including medical / biomedical science), and additionally have good understanding of computer programming fundamentals (conditionals, loops, arrays, functions, graphing). Prospective SCIE1000/1100 tutors should normally be achieving a GPA of at least 5.5 and have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study. Honours, Masters by Research and PhD candidates are encouraged to apply. Postgraduate coursework students with completion of at least one semester of full-time study are also eligible to apply. Note that the application involved uploading a video explanation in answer to a question (choose between two questions provided in the application). These questions are different from prior SCIE1000 /1100 tutoring applications, so existing tutors are expected to create a new video for this application. Practicals will start in Week 1 of semester and will run for most weeks of semester (one week will be run by philosophy tutors, and there may be a break week in addition to the standard in-semester break). The exact schedule is to be determined. Experienced SCIE1000/1100 tutors can also apply for a super tutoring position – if you are interested in this, please add a comment at the end of your application. If you are able and willing to tutor the advanced version of this course (SCIE1100), please indicate this with a comment at the end of your application.
