Description
Company Description "Knowing that I’m part of a team with a ‘can-do’ attitude and having access to some of the leading industry specialists motivates me to bring my best self to work every day." – Peter Johnson, Principal Water Resources engineer, QLD Come grow with us. Balancing the world’s need for safe, reliable water with protecting this critical natural resource for the future requires a deep understanding of interconnected systems. We work with clients across the entire project life cycle — from initial planning studies through final construction and operations and maintenance services — on both traditional and alternative project-delivery options (design-build, public-private partnerships and financing). With a robust design and construction division, AECOM offers a unique perspective on designing projects that are fully constructible. Job Description We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Water Resources professional to join our South-East Queensland Water Resources team. By joining our team, you will work on the most transformative projects and have access to mentoring and guidance from our industry-leading specialists. You will also be provided with opportunities to collaborate across interstate and international offices as part of the broader Water Resources sector. With AECOM’s flexibility, you can base yourself in either our Brisbane or Gold Coast office. AECOM isn't chasing one-off flood studies or small drainage packages. Our team is sitting on long-term framework agreements and major infrastructure programs across Queensland, particularly in SEQ where population growth, climate resilience and water security are driving investment. Some recent appointments include partnerships with major utilities, creating a substantial pipeline of water infrastructure, planning and resilience work for years to come. How you’ll make a difference Be part of a high-performing team delivering hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, drainage design, and integrated water management solutions, with a strong focus on technical excellence. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across a range of geographies to deliver integrated outcomes. Contribute to an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects across all market sectors, including energy, transport, water, environment, and government, across Queensland and beyond. Actively support the development and winning of proposals You will be empowered to assist with project leadership and mentoring responsibilities to support the development of junior staff. Qualifications The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered. The qualities that help you thrive Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline, Water Resource Management, or Environmental Science/Hydrology, with RPEV / CPEng (or working towards) highly regarded, and ideally 5+ years of relevant professional experience Demonstrated experience with water resource modelling and design tools such as TUFLOW, DRAINS, HEC‑RAS (1D and 2D), RORB, XPRAFTS, and URBS. Strong working knowledge of industry standards and guidelines such as ARR 2019, QUDM, TMR manual and AustRoads. Strong client focus with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders. Highly motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work both independently and within teams, and contribute effectively to projects with competing priorities and deadlines. Additional Information Why you’ll love working with us Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, part-time, job-sharing and hybrid work options Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year Volunteer and representation leave Flex public holidays – swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those with disabilities, additional health or mental health needs, and/or neurodiverse conditions.
