About the role We have an opportunity for a Workers Compensation Specialist to be part of our Hurt on Duty & Claims Management Unit, Health, Safety & Wellbeing Command. The Workers’ Compensation Specialist provides leadership to a team of direct reports, fostering capability, confidence, and accountability in the management of technical and legal workers’ compensation claims. The role delivers ongoing guidance, mentoring, training, and technical oversight to ensure the team operates in line with legislative requirements for both exempt and non‑exempt workers and contributes to best practice claims management across the organisation. The Workers’ Compensation Specialist leads the management of complex and high‑risk matters, including contentious, whole person impairment, criminal, and medically complex claims. This includes auditing medical evidence, managing disputes and litigated matters, and ensuring that all required legal and factual information is obtained and provided to support appropriate and timely outcomes. The role also leads claims management interactions with the nominated claims service provider and provides high quality advice and support to internal stakeholders across the organisation. This includes representing the organisation before the Personal Injury Commission, leading negotiations, and managing settlement outcomes to achieve effective and compliant resolution of claims.
