Description:
As an Enrolled Actuary, you will be responsible for performing and reviewing qualified pension plan valuations, calculations, filings and administration for cash balance and traditional defined benefit plans. This position is responsible for plan compliance, developing and maintaining client relationships, and special projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE OF AN ENROLLED ACTUARY:
- Enrolled Actuary designation required.
- MAAA Designation – Member of American Academy of Actuaries required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in retirement plan design and administration required.
- Management experience is preferred.
- Experience with Relius Administration software and plan documents preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to travel up to 5%.
- Ability to think analytically and critically.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload.
- Ability to adapt to change and work under pressure.
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Accounting, or a related field of study.
Pay Range: $85,000 to $115,000 annually
Responsibilities:
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ENROLLED ACTUARY:
- Serve as an expert in the valuation, administration and compliance of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans. Perform related actuarial calculations.
- Develop relationships with field partners and clients. Understand the needs of clients and design plans to meet their needs and goals.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of related regulations through self-study and company sponsored training sessions. Ensure that procedures and plans are compliant and communicate updates to reports and clients.
- Use knowledge of pension plans and Company needs and objectives to support pension related special projects and assignments. Make suggestions to management for improvements.
- Review plan sponsor annual asset and census data to input into validation software. Prepare annual funding reports and required AFTAP certifications. Complete Schedule SB with funding information.
- Complete annual Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation premium filings for certification.
- Prepare and review new traditional defined benefit plans and cash balance plan studies for potential clients.
- Complete actuarial valuation and maintain plan record keeping for assigned clients. Maintain turnaround time to meet client and Company expectations.
- Review general non-discrimination testing. Enhance and support non-discrimination data system.
- Prepare/review IRS min/max and ASC 715 financial reporting for qualified plans.
- Participate in discussions with auditors regarding the determination of appropriate discount rates.
