Description:

COMPETENCY: SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with network monitoring tools
  • Familiar with ticketing systems and tickets workflow
  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a NOC environment supporting enterprise or ISP networks
  • Good knowledge of routing, switching, and firewalls
  • Good knowledge of transmission equipment’s and technologies (DWDM, etc)
  • Knowledge and experience with optical networks
  • Any industry certification is desirable (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, etc)
  • Must have good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Be able to deliver an excellent customer service
  • Familiar with any other European language is an advantage

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in one or more of the following technologies:

  • DWDM experience (exposure to Ciena 6500)
  • Good understanding of an AIS system
  • Experience with Cisco and Fortinet equipment’s
  • Good understand of Office 365
  • Exposure to Salesforce is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Be multitasking and able prioritise workload
  • Desire and motivation to learn and ability to advance skill level
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written English
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to prioritize work
  • Flexible and adjustable
  • Able to build good relationships with customer and with other colleagues
  • Problem solving mindset

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Indigo is recruiting for an enthusiastic 1st Line Subsea Cable NOC engineer to join their global network monitoring team in Magor, Wales. The role involves reactive and proactive action on alarms as wells as performance analysis on a 365x24x7, 12 hours shift pattern, 4 days on/4 days off rota:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and manage the 1st line response to alarms, prioritizing severity and perform initial troubleshooting
  • Raise, update, and follow up on trouble tickets
  • Engage 2nd lines, field services and third parties whenever necessary and coordinate spares replacement and evasive manoeuvres
  • Keep the managing team up to date regarding critical faults and take part in Root Cause Analysis meetings
  • Proactively analyse data from Network Monitoring Tools and determine best course of action to help prevent faults from happening
  • Create or update internal documentation regarding actions taken to sort specific case scenarios so that information can be shared among the team
  • Respect customer SLAs
