REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate must possess a 2 or 3 year post-secondary diploma, with preference given to those holding an Accounting or Finance-related diploma. Three (3) years of related Accounts Payable or Accounting experience is required. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy, critical thinking skills; knowledge of budget management and purchasing; experience working with and implementing policy and procedural documents; a high degree of initiative; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Statistical analysis and financial reporting experience are an asset. The successful candidate must be able to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Brandon University is seeking a full-time, detail-oriented, and organized Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic Finance team. As the Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of financial analysis and ensuring the prompt, accurate, and efficient processing of all Accounts Payable functions for the University.
Job duties include, but are not limited to: processing individual expense claims, invoices, travel advances, credit card reconciliations, and providing general support to the Finance team by completing monthly management reports, other financial analysis and accounting services; preparing payments via EFT and cheques, including US cheque runs; processing wire transfers; filing; managing vendor profiles and remittances; reviewing statements for accuracy; preparing tax remittances and assisting with annual student tax receipting; monitoring budget and funding reconciliations; reviewing cash-outs and deposits for accuracy; balancing tills; verifying authorizations, coding, and policy compliance for processing expense claims, invoices, travel advances, and credit card reconciliations; and other related duties as assigned.
