2024 Economics Research Off-Cycle Summer Internship (Frankfurt)
The Economics Research Team has an Off-Cycle 10-week Internship position available for the Summer of 2024. This is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere in the Research Division by taking on some of the roles and responsibilities of a Full-time Analyst for a short period. The internship will run for 10-weeks over the Summer. You will be assigned to the European Economics team where you will undertake work which directly supports delivering exceptional research to our clients. There will also be opportunities to undertake additional research projects, based on analysts’ interests and current team requirements. This Off-Cycle internship is available in our Morgan Stanley Frankfurt office which is our EU Hub. As part of this programme you will have the opportunity to work closely with the London based team as well.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS

  • You are a penultimate or final year (including Masters) student with outstanding academic achievements, and on track to achieve a minimum of 2.1 honours degree or equivalent in any degree discipline;
  • You have an interest in macroeconomics, particularly with a focus on the euro area;
  • You have strong analytical and numerical skills that put you at ease with macroeconomic or financial market data;
  • You possess intellectual curiosity, focus and creativity, and have a keen research instinct with creative problem-solving abilities;
  • You show initiative and are also able to work collaboratively and effectively in a dynamic team environment;
  • You have experience and a sound knowledge of a programming language, in particular related to data manipulation and econometric analysis;
  • You are fluent in English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • You are committed to maintaining high professional and ethical standards; and
  • You are results-driven, and perform well under pressure and against tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Analysts are hired onto the European Economics Research team where they remain for the duration of their program.

As part of the internship, you will:

  • Work closely with the economists on the team, helping them to cover Euro area economies, and assist them with daily tasks as well as longer-term projects;
  • Assist with maintaining and improving the analytical tools used by the team for forecasts;
  • Provide support on client requests including updating charts and tables, as well as presentations;
  • Work primarily with macroeconomic data, but also financial data;
  • Contribute to quantitative analyses and research publications on the back of economic data releases and policy events;
