Description:

Reporting to the Business Process Transformation Team, the Application Developer Intern will assist our subject matter expert on developing business software solutions through object and data modeling, database design, programming, quality assurance, and implementation support. The incumbent will work in conjunction with the Business Transformation Canada team to identify and improve processes and systems across the business. The Intern should be a team player with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in opportunity identification/assessment by collaborating with business analysts to understand current business processes and map out technical requirements
  • Design and develop automated or semi-autonomous solutions where appropriate, with consideration of business constraints, technical suitability, and operational sustainability
  • Design system test plans and ensure software quality assurance standards are achieved; validate that business requirements are met
  • Create, review, and maintain documentation for solutions on Confluence; provide education where required
  • Design review process for technical solutions to identify and address any issue that affects the integrity of the solution
  • Determine operating requirements, costs, as well as resource needs for assigned projects and work in conjunction with a project manager on initiatives
  • Support existing automated and semi-autonomous solutions; assess and implement change requirements where appropriate
  • Provide technical assessment and support to promptly resolve escalated incidents/outages
  • Collaborate with US team to keep abreast of solutions being used by CDW global and leverage/adapt existing solutions for use in Canada where appropriate
  • Assist in developing the BTC technical roadmap in support of CDW’s Mission Forward objectives
  • Report project/task status to direct supervisor on a weekly basis
  • Ensure stakeholders are responded to in a timely and professional manner
  • The 2024 Summer Internship Program will run from May 2024 to August 2024

What we’re looking for:

  • Students or New Grads with the graduation date of 2023-2024 enrolled in Computer Science, Math or Data Science.
  • Comfortable with Python
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and results-driven individual who will make an impact while utilizing strong written and verbal skills to communicate effectively
  • Team oriented and able to develop positive relationships with coworkers and other partners involved
  • Strong presentation skills, including ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Microsoft Office skills including, but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Availability to work a 40-hour week within standard business hours throughout the summer
  • Authorization to work in Canada; without sponsorship as a full-time coworker
