Description:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The main purpose of this position is to develop solutions for analysing trends, identifying risks associated with cross-border flows and provide information to relevant stakeholders, to ensure compliance with the Exchange Control Regulations and relevant legislation as well as to support policy formulation within the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Develop analytical solutions using cross-border data flows and produce statistical reports and management information covering compliance and risk.
  • Highlight risk problems and challenges based on analysis and facilitate internal meetings to review these and develop recommendations for the reporting entities.
  • Design risk based analytical solutions contributing to onsite inspections by providing reporting entities information on risk focused areas.
  • Collect and integrate data from various sources on, inter alia, regulatory, central banking and financial sector ecosystem trends.
  • Build and manage the infrastructure (e.g. frameworks, algorithms, models, tools and systems) that supports information management, advanced analytics, knowledge transfer, share information and provide training to staff members and other Central Banks.
  • Conceptualise and conduct advanced statistical analysis (e.g. data science analytics, visualisation, predictive modelling) to provide proactive and actionable strategy intelligence and insights for the Department.
  • Research and identify related trends in advanced analytics in peer organisations and similar industries for the purpose of benchmarking for a specific risk type.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the SARB’s advanced analytics function to ensure alignment and knowledge-sharing with regard to practices, processes, methods, tools, frameworks and techniques.
  • Create, maintain and ensure quality assurance of key data assets, reports and metrics.
  • Stay abreast of legislative changes, theoretical and applied developments in the field of statistical specialisation and make specific proposals on how developments might be applied to improve current practices.
