Description:
Within Nokia Standards Department (NSD) in Nokia Strategy & Technology (S&T), we drive Nokia’s technology leadership by developing and bringing innovative concepts to industry and standardization organizations. NSD also works within the ecosystem to ensure an inventor-friendly industry environment, favorable to Nokia’s business success. The unit has a strategic objective of anticipating, shaping, and protecting future technologies and systems and ensuring appropriate standards and industry specifications are developed.
Nokia’s Standardization Specialists collaborate with internal and external experts to advance the state-of-the-art technology landscape and to create and protect Nokia’s intellectual property. We are looking for ambitious and highly engaged colleagues to work on standardization of UE RF requirements in our Standardization & Industry Environment Team.
We are seeking a highly motivated RF communications technology expert to join Nokia’s 3GPP RAN WG4 delegation.

As part of our team, you will:
- develop radio standardization specifications in the area of user equipment RF requirements and handling of spectrum bands and band combinations for 5G-Advanced and 6G;
- contribute to Nokia’s vision of RF requirements for 6G;
- participate in 3GPP RAN WG4 meetings, representing Nokia;
- contribute to and participate in customer dialogues on the latest trends in wireless technology and standardization.
You have:
- Master’s degree or PhD
- fluent English, strong communication and negotiation skills, and proficiency in technical writing
- a strong system background in 5G
- a profound understanding of radio access system design
- expertise in user equipment transmitter and/or receiver characteristics to satisfy minimum performance requirements and regulatory constraints, including areas such as transmitter power control, spectrum emission masks, adjacent channel leakage ratio and coexistence requirements, error vector magnitude, adjacent channel selectivity, receiver sensitivity, blocking requirements, radio conformance testing, and related areas.
Any of the following would also be beneficial:
- understanding of device and/or base station implementation
- practical experience of radio modem development for user devices (e.g. smartphones)
- experience of link and/or system-level simulations
- a track record of innovation
- experience in 3GPP standardization or working with 3GPP radio specifications
- familiarity with radio regulations
- proven ability to work in a multi-national and distributed team.
