A Controller of Financial Operations (Luxury of Private Resorts)
We represent an elite collection of private resorts spanning from the Caribbean to Southeast Asia. Our all-inclusive private resorts cater exclusively to high-class groups, from multi-generational family holidays to adult-only group vacations, accommodating up to 20 or 30 individuals across all suites.
JOB BRIEF
We are seeking an Experienced Controller of Financial Operations to oversee all aspects of financial management for our property in the Dominican Republic. This role involves accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven working experience as Chief Accountant or Financial Controller in the hospitality industry.
- Minimum of 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
- Advanced degree in accounting, CPA preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end and year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, banking, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and deliver timely monthly financial statements.
- Prepare month-end and year-end close process.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with Dominican Republic government regulations and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard hotel assets.
- Proactively assist with cost control requirements.
- Work with external and internal auditors and assist with year-end audit preparations and drafting of financial statements.
- Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
- Perform additional controller duties as necessary.
- Directly manage a team of 5 employees.
- Assist in all operations of the resort and perform other tasks and duties assigned by the management when required.
