ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This is an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role and applicants must be of Aboriginal descent, identify as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community. Aboriginality is a genuine occupation qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997.
  • Proven ability in using expertise, knowledge, skills and local experiences to provide culturally appropriate and influential advice to internal organisational directorates, programs and teams.
  • Demonstrated track record building and maintaining relationships with key Aboriginal organisations and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering outcomes to meet Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander needs within a public sector setting and the ability to think collaboratively and creatively about how outcomes for communities can be best achieved.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities working with a diverse range of stakeholders to influence and coordinate outcomes.
  • Highly developed leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

The Aboriginal Health Outcomes Lead is responsible for providing guidance and advice across the organisation on programs and initiatives for Aboriginal people and communities. The role develops and maintains key relationships with communities and across the sector to cultivate greater engagement, partnerships and connectedness; and contributes to the development and implementation of key strategies and programs across the Cancer Institute NSW.
The role will act as a key liaison person between Aboriginal community and providers and programs/teams to link strategic priorities, initiatives, research and projects that have the ability to improve the outcomes and experience of health for Aboriginal people.
