Description:
INTRODUCTION:
The Hotel School Australia (THSA) is a unique educational partnership between Southern Cross University (SCU) and Mulpha Australia, a major stakeholder in the hospitality, tourism and hotel industry worldwide.
THSA develops future leaders in the hospitality, tourism, leisure and increasingly the luxury lifestyle sectors and does this by delivering a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management and a Master of Business in Global Hotel Leadership inclusive of 4 nested courses to domestic and international fee-paying students.
SCU is registered as an Australian Public University and as a Provider of Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). The ESOS agency has enabled SCU to be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). These registrations enable THSA to deliver the courses on behalf of the partnership to both domestic and international students.
Celebrating 35 years of operation in 2024, THSA operates across three states and four campuses and as a result has the largest national footprint of any hospitality, leisure and tourism program in Australia
DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of the Academic Coordinator is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of academic programs by coordinating curriculum development, managing class scheduling, supporting faculty development, and facilitating communication amongst stakeholders. Ultimately, the role aims to optimise student learning outcomes and promote a positive academic environment within the institution.
Responsibility for ensuring the effective administration of Academic activities across the key areas:
QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD or equivalent experience in teaching or related functions of a higher education operation
A WWCC clearance is required.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian higher education sector and its regulatory framework for domestic and international students
Proven ability to build effective working relationships, negotiate, persuade and communicate with a range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
Manage and enhance academic technology systems to support and improve teaching and learning outcomes
Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
Ability to manage self and others in the conduct of, and administration of related functions to deliver higher education services
To be pro-active, positive and anticipate work to achieve teaching excellence and an outstanding student experience in the classroom
Excellent coordinating skills in the conduct and delivery of courses of higher education or related supporting tasks
Required, to comply with established institutional processes and practice and capable of seeing opportunities for improvement
A commitment to staff and student equity and cultural diversity within the workplace
