Description:

Minimum Requirement

  • A Master’s in a relevant field (Education, Social Science).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education testing or academic development related roles,

at a higher education institution.

  • Experience in Project Management
  • Strong knowledge of assessment principles, methods and best practices
  • Understanding of higher education literacies (academic literacies, numeracy, scientific reasoning)
  • Excellent data analysis and diagnostic reporting related to learning and teaching
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to think creatively, critically analyze complex information, and propose effective solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skill with the ability to collaborate with diverse

stakeholders

  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in academic settings

Summary of Duties

  • Co-ordinate the development and implementation of access and placement testing strategies aligned

with university goals and objectives.

  • Coordinate with academic departments to determine testing requirements and ensure alignment with

program outcomes.

  • Oversee the administration of standardized tests, including scheduling, logistics, and grading.
  • Analyze testing data to evaluate student performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for

program and learning, teaching and assessment improvement.

  • Collaborate with student development teams to develop student support initatives
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for staff involved in test development, analysis of performance

and reporting

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations and agencies involved in testing and

assessment.

  • Monitor industry trends and best practices in access and placement testing to inform program

development and innovation.

  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on testing program outcomes, progress, and challenges for

university leadership.

  • Manage budgetary resources allocated to access and placement testing initiatives.
  • Any additional academic development duties requested by Director

Salary Range: R35 000 - R45 000
Status of Position: Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2024 (renewable based on
performance and availability of funds).
