JOB DESCRIPTION
We are vital links between an idea for a new medicine and the people who need it. We are the people of PPD — thousands of employees in locations worldwide connected by tenacity and passion for our purpose: to improve health. You will be joining a truly collaborative and winning culture as we strive to bend the time and cost curve of delivering life-saving therapies to patients.
PPD is now actively recruiting for a highly driven and successful Account Director to join our Business Development (BD) team. This position supports PPD’s Central Labs business, which provides standardized testing, consistent results and innovative data solutions. With capabilities across a wide range of technologies and applications, services span all phases of pharmaceutical development.
In this role you will secure and retain business through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers. You will position PPD as a primary or preferred provider, qualify deals and develop proposals. You will serve as primary contact until work is sold, then coordinate and ensure a successful implementation. The role also requires you to act as a liaison between sponsor and company on all business development activities and requirements and gather data on marketing trends and competitive products/services and pricing.
Ideally, you will have:
- Bachelors degree in science or business
- Clinical sales experience, ideally including Labs/Central labs.
- Substantial sales experience and consistent track record of proactively selling with urgency and persistence
- The ability to build relationships and fully integrate with internal functions such as Operations, Finance, Bids & Contracts, Marketing and Medical and follow-up to expand relationships and business opportunities.
- The ability to identify and develop sales leads, professionally present capabilities, manage the sales process through to close and handle all aspects of contract negotiations.
- The ability to build strong teams to present to clients, organise and coach people to win in competitive situations
At PPD we hire the best, develop ourselves and each other, and recognise the power of being one team. We understand that you will want to grow both professionally and personally throughout your career, and therefore at PPD you will benefit from an award-winning learning and development programme, ensuring you reach your potential.
As well as being rewarded a competitive salary, we have an extensive benefits package based around the health and well-being of our employees. We have a flexible working culture, where PPD truly value a work-life balance. We’ve grown sustainably year on year but continue to offer a collaborative environment, with teams of colleagues eager to share expertise and have fun together. We are a global organisation but with a local feel.
