YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • Success as an Account Executive within an early stage start-up, ideally in the EdTech sector.
  • Experience with, and the stamina for, long-cycle sales. You particularly understand how to drive against ambitious timelines and targets while also balancing the needs and realities of individual target client constraints
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, evolving early-stage environment. You are comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with a startup environment, and you are excited by the idea of working with a global team across 25+ countries
  • Building relationships should come easy to you – and you’ll love connecting with people
  • Willingness to travel - domestically and possibly internationally as needed. Given the current environment, you also bring an instinct of knowing when meetings should take place virtually versus in person
  • Legally able to work in home country without sponsorship

Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE

We are a start-up that is scaling fast. Therefore, we are not hiring for someone to do repetitive work. We are hiring resilient and multi-faceted problem solvers. To thrive at VI, you will need a ‘growth mindset’ where you embrace the challenge of figuring something out.
The Account Executive will play a key role in identifying, prospecting and contracting with new university partners throughout the APAC region. We are looking for experienced hunters. You’ll achieve success through an existing knowledge of the APAC Higher Education space. You understand that relationship building with university stakeholders is crucial. You will execute an effective sales strategy to quickly grow market share and utilise sales tactics to close new partnerships.
This is a mid-to-senior level individual contributor role in our Partnerships team.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

In your first month, you will:

  • Get onboarded and brought up to speed with all things VI - our company structure, product, mission, values and tech stack
  • Review our current programs, systems, and data so you can gain insight into where we currently are - and crucially where we need to be
  • Meet with colleagues across the company and start building relationships that will help you better understand the company and your objectives
  • Begin building your own sales pipeline and working with existing leads. As you take ownership of the existing pipeline, you’ll identify the need to get going and get selling

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Have full knowledge of the VI product and how to sell to university partners
  • Have an increasingly healthy pipeline of opportunities - some of which will be close to closing
  • Be comfortable conducting sales calls to prospective buyers and be motivated by executing tactics that move opportunities down the pipeline
  • Likely have attended an industry event to widen your network and knowledge of the sector

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Have closed at least one deal and have several other opportunities close to closing
  • Have full understanding of VI’s position in the Australian, New Zealand, and Asian HE market
  • Be comfortable sharing best practice, updates and sector-related content across multiple channels
