Description:

Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC), a joint venture of the Stern Group and West Fraser Timber Company Ltd., is a leading manufacturer of premium paper products. We are currently recruiting for the role of Accountant / Accounting Analyst. This position reports to the Accounting Supervisor and supports the general accounting and financial functions of ANC through duties such as cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly/annually reconciliations.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Preparation of monthly cost reporting
  • Preparation of month-end and year-end journal entries
  • Preparation of year-end working papers
  • Sales accounting, product pricing updates, and customer invoicing
  • Assist operational divisions with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
  • Financial analysis and special projects
  • Communicate and correspond with team members on a daily basis
  • Reviewing/updating accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist operational divisions with projects approval process
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end journal entries and reports
  • Ensure that financial controls are in place and that company policies are followed
  • Other duties, as required such as: review contracts, contractor payments, assign stratums, assign conversion rates, review accrual assumptions, and special projects

Responsibilities:

WHAT THE ACCOUNTANT / ACCOUNTING ANALYST WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Four-year degree in Accounting / Finance / Management, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Team-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Internal Controls
