Description:
Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC), a joint venture of the Stern Group and West Fraser Timber Company Ltd., is a leading manufacturer of premium paper products. We are currently recruiting for the role of Accountant / Accounting Analyst. This position reports to the Accounting Supervisor and supports the general accounting and financial functions of ANC through duties such as cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly/annually reconciliations.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Preparation of monthly cost reporting
- Preparation of month-end and year-end journal entries
- Preparation of year-end working papers
- Sales accounting, product pricing updates, and customer invoicing
- Assist operational divisions with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
- Financial analysis and special projects
- Communicate and correspond with team members on a daily basis
- Reviewing/updating accounting policies and procedures
- Assist operational divisions with projects approval process
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end journal entries and reports
- Ensure that financial controls are in place and that company policies are followed
- Other duties, as required such as: review contracts, contractor payments, assign stratums, assign conversion rates, review accrual assumptions, and special projects
Responsibilities:
WHAT THE ACCOUNTANT / ACCOUNTING ANALYST WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:
- Four-year degree in Accounting / Finance / Management, or related discipline
- 3-5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
- Advanced skills in Excel
- Team-oriented
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of Internal Controls
