Our client in Calgary is seeking an Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, overseeing the general ledger, managing accounts payable and receivable, assisting in budget development, and supporting various tax filings. The role requires a proactive individual with excellent analytical skills, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Oversee the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and maintenance of accounting records.
Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, monitoring variances and providing analysis.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
Support the preparation and filing of various tax returns, staying current with tax laws and regulations.
Processing salaried and hourly payroll.
Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls and procedures.
Perform ad-hoc duties as requested.

TOP MUST-HAVE’S FOR THE ROLE:

3+ years of experience as an Accountant or similar position.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is an asset.
Flexible and open to taking on different tasks and experiences.
Proactive and willing to put in the work needed.
Tech-savvy, with proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Cube.
Background in oil and gas or construction industries.
Ability to work in a team environment with different personalities.
Available to start immediately.
