HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

You will make a difference as an Accountant by providing a range of strategic advice and operational financial support services to Council departments and offer comprehensive financial advice to fulfil the statutory obligations of the organisation, ensuring compliance with accountancy standards and codes of practice.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • You will need a recognised CCAB qualification (preferably CIPFA), or Association of Accounting Technician qualified or will have equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • We require you to have significant operational experience within a large organisation, covering the key financial processes of financial planning, budget preparation, budget monitoring and preparing final accounts.
  • For the role you will require experience of supervising a small team to effectively deliver a range of quality and cost effective financial management and financial support services.
  • It is essentail that you have excellent IT, numeracy and good analytical skills.
  • Ideally you would need Knowledge of CIVICA Financials

Responsibilities:

  • Our Finance team play an important role in ensuring the council funds are being distributed, controlled and spent appropriately.
  • You will provide a technical accounting service in support of a specific areas of the Council and review and resolve any issues relating to budgets, financial information and resources for your area of specialism so that agreed targets are met.
  • In this senior role you will provide expert advice to councilors, departments, managers and the senior leadership team ensuring they receive clear guidance and information data that fulfils statutory requirements.
  • You will oversee a team giving support and guidance as well as set targets, monitor performance and review potential changes to ensure services and projects are delivered successfully.
