Description:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply a range of data processing principles and procedures.
- Attention to detail, highly organized, and ability to multi-task and manage time well is an asset.
- A critical thinker with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Above average computer skills required.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Symitar is a plus.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
Some college level accounting coursework preferred.
Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Six months to 2 years’ experience in general accounting preferred. Credit union accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
To support the financial management and operations of the credit union through maintenance of accounting records and reports in a timely and professional manner. Also, performs accounting duties in accordance with standard procedures and under moderate supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all assigned general ledger accounts are kept up-to-date and balanced on a daily basis.
- Responsible for reviewing and releasing mobile and ATM deposits captured on assigned days.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures, such as preparing and processing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
- Receive and process requests for wire transfers from members, ensuring the information is accurate and complete.
- Monitor outstanding checks and escheated checks.
- Prepare and execute accounts payable payments, reconciling statements and verifying accuracy.
- Conduct branch audits and assist branch staff by answering questions related to branch balancing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with banking regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve credit union member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
- Accurately measure, record, and report the financial performance of the credit union.
- Have a basic understanding of general accounting principles and comply with all regulations.
- Prepare daily and monthly account reconciliations as assigned.
- Manage incoming mailed checks by verifying, recording, and processing them accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt application to the appropriate accounts.
- Learn other duties within the accounting/finance department to allow you to back-up that position in the event of an absence.
