JOB DESCRIPTION

The Accounting Controller leads & directs the accounting functions for Gerrity’s and the daily operations of the accounting department. The Accounting Controller’s duties also include the maintenance of general ledgers, preparing financial statements, examining, and analyzing accounts and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and other standard accounting procedures. Experience with accounting software programs Oracle & Epicor helpful.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains the organization’s overall accounting systems, procedures, and polices.
  • Oversees accounting staff.
  • Assist Accounting Department and other financial professionals with creating and auditing financial documents.
  • Analysis and reporting of financial information including budgets, planning, and required filings and reports.
  • Ensures compliance with financial and accounting regulations.
  • Oversees the preparation of the periodic reporting and required legal filings.
  • Assist with organizations’ financial decisions.
  • Ensures that all corporate and required accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed by the entire accounting department.
  • Handling preparation for tax returns.
  • Performs financial risk assessments and internal audits.
  • Perform daily accounting tasks such as financial reporting, general ledger entries, processing invoices and recording payments and adjustments.
  • Responsible for the management and reporting of financial data.
  • Reviews, codes, and verifies company transactions and journal entries, verifies billings, invoices, and checks.
  • Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers.
  • Preparing budgets, tracking expenses and cost projections for financial reports.
  • Completing analysis of the company expenditure, examine financial data for accuracy.
  • Provide accounting support to Operations and Management teams.
  • Serve as an accounting resource for projects, issues, and questions of department both inside and outside of Finance/Accounting.
  • Assist internal and external auditors in the quarterly and annual audit process by preparing schedules and interpreting financial information.
  • Auditing and analysis of physical inventories and reporting.
