Description:

We are looking for a knowledgeable Accounting Manager who can lead and motivate accounting staff and increase department accuracy and efficiency. The Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information, HR & payroll. Train, and motivate team, develop and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.
To succeed as an Accounting Manager, you should be analytical, detail-oriented, and honest. The ideal candidate should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as strong understanding of accounting and management principles and financial legislation.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee and manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Prepare and publish timely & accurate monthly financial statements
  • Drive month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Meet accounting operational standards by contributing financial information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
  • Meet accounting financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintains cash flow by monitoring bank balances and cash requirements; investing excess funds.
  • Approves & oversees cash disbursements by verifying cheque amounts against invoices, preparing cheques and wire transfers.
  • Approves & oversees ledger entries by auditing transactions.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Produces bimonthly payroll for company
  • Implements HR policies & controls company benefits plans
  • Supports annual audit by providing information and answers to auditors.
  • Oversee employee benefit package and verifies employee benefit invoices by cross checking coverage and costs.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Ensures all government payments are reported and paid in a timely fashion (Payroll Tax, GST, PST, Corporate Tax, WCB, etc)
  • Track, research, register if required and report Sales tax in US or other countries as required.
  • Manages inventory process, co-ordinates counts and track variances.

Proven experience in Accounting, Management, Benefits Administration, Audit, Managing Processes, Reporting Research Results, Quality Management, Corporate Finance, Developing Budgets, Strong Attention to Detail, General Math Skills
In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, auditing practices, codes and regulations and best practices
Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
Proven leadership skills
Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (SAGE)
An analytical mind with a strategic ability
Possess high energy, maintain a persistent mind-set, enthusiasm, and be extremely goal oriented
Possess a professional business manner, an ability to identify, connect and build relationships
Good negotiation, influencing & communications skills; well spoken & personable
Strong analytical & reasoning abilities with keen attention to detail & highly numerate

Responsibilities:

Secures financial operations by monitoring and approving financial processing, reporting, and auditing, regulatory and government reporting, maintains budgets and forecasts preparation, payroll & HR accountabilities; supervises staff. Bring financial management experience, including corporate accounting. Take ownership of responsibilities and confidence in accuracy of reporting. Has initiative to add value.
