We are looking for a financial management professional to join our team in Helsinki, Finland. This is a new position where you get to bring out your expertise to develop our accounting processes and practices furthermore. Your role as an Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations, compliance, and reporting of European entities and assist the Senior Accounting Manager with global operations. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager will ensure timely and accurate completion of daily operational functions for the European group of operating entities. You will work independently and collaboratively with the Director of Finance, Senior Accounting Manager, and third-party local accounting administrators and tax preparers. The Accounting Manager will also review and prepare internal and external financial reports and participate in the annual financial audit of the Finnish Parent and other entities as needed.
The weekly tasks include approval process of payables, reviewing invoices and expense reports, tracking payments, and responding to vendor and internal queries.
Monthly tasks include review and approval process of payroll, financial reviews, and meetings with service providers.
Quarterly tasks involve VAT tax returns, tax-related payments, and accounting/consolidation.
Annual tasks include supporting audits, financial statements, and tax return preparations.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence operations through process and technology streamlining, effect changes for a smoother and more efficient payables and financial statement preparation process. You will also perform an operational assessment of areas that need more controls or resources. The biggest challenge and opportunity with this role is coordinating with different service providers and following up to meet deadlines, as well as understanding different regulations in various countries and implementing compliance.

An ideal background that will help you to succeed in this position

  • A university degree in accounting or a related field. Additionally, coursework in taxation is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience in corresponding tasks.
  • Solid technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English (a must) and knowledge of the Finnish language (considered an advantage).
  • A team-oriented and proactive approach with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software (a plus). A versatile system knowledge is beneficial.
  • Work experience in the private equity industry is a plus.
