ACCOUNTING MANAGER

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
- Month-end close: Manage and prepare routine month-end duties. This includes tracking essential tasks, coordinating with other departments, creating journal entries and being accountable for monthly accounting reconciliation and schedules.
- Cash Management: Manage cash flow and treasury functions, including cash forecasting, bank reconciliations, and optimizing working capital.
- Customer AR and Vendor AP: Support the accounting team with tracking customer invoices and outstanding AR as well as assist with the AP process as needed.
- Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess control effectiveness.
- Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement to drive business performance. Must understand how the financial statements work together.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- External Relationships: Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and other third-party service providers as needed. Build and maintain strong relationships to support the company’s financial objectives.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters or CPA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial roles. Public accounting experience a plus.
- Previous experience at a Tech company or in SaaS is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles and regulations.
- Experience with multi-entity and multi-currency accounting preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. We use Sage Intacct, bill.com, Avalara and Expensify.
- Ability to thrive in a startup environment and manage multiple priorities.
