Description:

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT APPRENTICESHIP - CEDR SERVICES

Assisting in day-to-day financial activities, supporting the Financial Controller, Credit Controller, Finance Assistant. Also supporting the various business units within the organisation on administration tasks when required.

APPRENTICESHIP SUMMARY

  • 30 hours per week
  • Level 2 Accounts Assistant Qualification

  • 52 weeks a year
  • 17 months to complete the course
  • £6.40 per hour (The wage will increase to the NMW for your age after the 1st year).
  • Monday - Friday (9am - 5pm) with 1 hour lunch
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade 4/C and above or Level 2) essential
  • Any successful applicant must complete a DBS check prior to start date
  • Location: 100 St Paul’s Churchyard, London, GLN, EC4M 8BU

SECTION 1 SKILLS

  • Deals effectively with a range of stakeholders using appropriate communication methods to deliver accurate and timely results.
  • Utilises relevant office and accounting software packages to input and manage data accurately.
  • Demonstrates good listening and speaking skills to be able to communicate effectively in the right manner.
  • Ability to organise self, prioritise workload and activity to meet deadlines.
  • Actively identifies team workload problems and offers to support peers where appropriate.
  • Ability to maintain the security of accounting information using passwords and other appropriate security measures.
  • The ability to reconcile data to minimise the chance of errors.

SECTION 2 KNOWLEDGE

  • Aware of elements of commercial law that may have an impact when working in accountancy, such as contracts, data protection or Anti Money Laundering.
  • Can explain the importance of upholding relevant codes of conduct.
  • Can explain different legal entities and organisational structures.
  • Aware of the impact of technology on business and its accounting and finance functions.
  • Know a range of routine accounts reports, reports and their use within the finance function.
  • Understands corporate social responsibility (CSR), ethics and sustainability within organisations.
  • Understands the importance of the need to keep up-to-date with relevant policies, procedures, regulatory or system changes.

Responsibilities:

Finance
o Processing Sales and Purchase invoices
o Data entry
o Chasing internal payment authorisations
o Assisting with the payment runs
o Customer & supplier account reconciliations
o Assisting with monthly reconciliations
o Dealing with the invoice inbox and account enquiries
o Telephony calls – taking payments for customers and verifying bank details
o Assisting with finance ad-hoc projects as required – audit being one of them
Supporting Central Administration team
o Meeting and greeting clients and visitors, offering, and preparing refreshments.
o Maintaining meeting room standards such as restocking supplies.
o Changing the room layouts for events, and courses e.g. moving tables.
o Testing AV equipment and dealing with any potential problems promptly.
o Running updates on meeting room laptops, deleting outdated meetings from the calendars and Teams chats.
o Supporting the running of courses including preparing refreshments and assisting with the catering.
o Any other ad-hoc support with projects as required.
