Description:

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Part TIme Accounts Payable Specialist in Watertown, Massachusetts. The chosen candidate will be working onsite and will be an integral part of our accounting team. This role primarily involves managing payments and expenses, maintaining accounting ledgers, and assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements. Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently process, verify, and reconcile invoices received for payment.
  • Ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner by monitoring contracts, verifying federal id numbers, tax exemption, and scheduling and preparing checks.
  • Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
  • Reconcile accounts payable ledgers on a monthly basis and assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Ensure payments are processed in compliance with policies and procedures, reviewing for appropriate authorizations, proper coding, and distribution accuracy.
  • Handle discrepancies and documentation by issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
  • Assist with monitoring and analyzing reports and metrics to ensure accordance with budgets and grant management.
  • Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment in analyzing situations, and make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Work with third party accountants and auditors to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial schedules, reporting, and audits.
  • Possess general knowledge of relevant programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Accounting Manager.
