How you make a difference:
As an Activity Therapist, your primary responsibility will be to provide therapy services to patients under the direction of your site supervisor. This will involve developing and implementing therapeutic activities that help patients with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities to improve their overall well-being. Additionally, you will be expected to communicate effectively with both facility staff and company representatives to ensure that therapy services are delivered in a coordinated and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide activity therapy services to inmates in compliance with Company and Facility policies and recognized standards.
  • Work under the direction of supervisor and effectively communicate with Facility and Company staff.
  • Develop and implement a program of activities for inmates, including task groups, socialization groups, community meetings, education/recreational groups, and unstructured recreational activities.
  • Monitor and document inmate involvement in activities and report significant changes in functioning to a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
  • Participate in in-service sessions, staff meetings, and treatment team meetings, and comply with employee standards of Company and the Facility.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in activity therapy, therapeutic recreation, or related field.

Experience

  • Experience providing services to a mentally ill population and/or certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) as required by site contract.
