YOUR ROLE:

Wesleyan are currently seeking an Actuarial Analyst. If you are a recent graduate or part-qualified, we’d love to hear from you.
The Actuarial function’s main areas of work include Capital Management, Products, Valuation, Bonuses and Modelling. All members of the area work flexibly as a team and may be assigned to undertake tasks for any area. In addition, team members are given the opportunity to rotate between different Actuarial teams to expand knowledge and give a full breadth of experience across all Actuarial areas.
As part of our actuarial programme you’ll be studying towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). You’ll be given a generous and fully supported study package that includes study days and funding for revision materials, including tutorials.
This role will initially report into the Product Disclosure team, who are responsible for sending accurate, timely and informative statements to our customers.
In particular, you will be responsible for calculating the financial details of complicated policies and developing Excel based tools to improve processes and reduce manual calculations within the organisation.
This role is open to new actuarial analysts who are keen to develop their life insurance knowledge, or individuals with experience of working with unitised policies and/or old style conventional policies. Advanced Excel knowledge, including working with VBA, is preferred but not essential.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Provide actuarial support to the business to send accurate, timely and informative statements to our customers.
  • Work with various teams across Wesleyan, outside of Group Finance, to ensure smooth delivery of the statements.
  • Model and analyse the Society’s projected capital position for capital planning purposes and for the annual Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA).
  • Support the Society’s strategic plans by analysing the impact on the Society’s capital position.
  • Provide actuarial input to reinsurance and other strategic decisions affecting the realistic capital position of the Society funds.
  • Develop and maintain Asset Liability Matching models and cash flow matching analyses to provide input into investment mix, bonus policy and management of the Estate
  • Produce the Society’s internal capital Management Information (MI); including solvency monitoring.
  • Answer complex customer queries.
We know the best teams are made up of inclusive groups of diverse people where everyone’s contribution counts, and we believe everyone has the right to proudly be themselves. We’re building a culture where difference is actively encouraged and simply recruit the best people for the job irrespective of lifestyle, life history and life choices.
We understand that there are a wide range of reasons that you may require reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process- please let us know in your application how we can best support you.
