POSITION SUMMARY

Florida Peninsula’s mission is to be the insurer Floridians choose to protect their homes by providing an exceptional customer experience. Through disciplined underwriting and the use of advanced analytics, we have experienced a tremendous level of profitable growth in the past few years. We are seeking a talented candidate to build and own our internal actuarial function. This position is part of the risk analytics group and supports our overall actuarial, reporting, and research functions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Statistics, Data Analytics, Mathematics or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years Property and Casualty insurance experience working in an actuarial/analyst role

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ACAS/FCAS or near ACAS actuarial student with demonstrated exam success
  • Advanced capabilities with MS products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Data analysis, data management software programs (SQL)
  • Data visualization tools such as QGIS/ArcGIS and MS PowerBI
  • Open-source statistical software (R or Python) a plus but not required
  • US Property experience in FL and/or a wildfire-prone state a plus but not required
  • Passion for telling stories with data

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships within and across teams
  • Strong communication, analytic and presentation skills
  • Considerable initiative, ability to prioritize tasks and creativity with respect to problem solving

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the broader data science and catastrophe modeling team with pricing strategy development, and lead in preparation of rate filing materials
  • Develop dashboard that demonstrates current program mis pricing
  • Develop IBNR Analysis for all Florida Peninsula Subsidiaries for Personal Lines Property Insurance
  • Quarterly presentations and review of IBNR estimates for management and claims
  • Develop a reserve automation process, including research on emerging approaches to storm related claim development
  • Develop monthly monitoring tools for development patterns
  • Understand our claims process and provide analytics to improve claims processes
  • Support financial reporting and forecasting functions
