Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Additive Manufacture Specialist will demonstrate expertise in developing additive manufacture design solutions from concept to finished product, including inspection and validation strategies.
The Additive Manufacture Specialist will integrate efforts between engineering disciplines and manufacturing to drive the development of additive manufacture capability within the business. He/She will play a key role in leading the work to deliver the next generation of heat exchangers.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education – HND or Higher
  • Experience – Demonstrated expertise in delivering complex design solutions and leading design teams, preferably in the Aerospace industry and preferably with heat exchanger experience.
  • Experience with specific additive manufacture design tools and methodologies is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Laser Powder Bed Fusion manufacturing techniques and demonstrable experience with optimizing designs for those processes.
  • Understanding of a range of different additive manufacture materials including Aluminium and Nickel alloys.
  • Expertise in the design and definition process of complex products through the product life cycle.
  • Expertise with CAD tools (ideally NX) and PLM (Teamcenter).
  • Preferably able to carry out Thermal, Structural or CFD analysis.
  • Preferably experienced in heat exchangers, Ozone convertors and fluid management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills at all levels.
  • Experience with supporting TRL and MCRL activities would be advantageous.
    This position may involve access to export-controlled information and hardware where an export license would be required for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading design activities where leveraging the benefits of Additive Layer Manufacturing forms the foundation of the design architecture.
  • Lead improvements in design methodologies for additive manufacture.
  • Implementing the additive manufacture technology roadmap for the business.
  • Governing MRL and TRL process where required.
  • Supporting rapid prototyping initiatives where required.
  • Responsible for detail design and definition of hardware.
  • Responsible for applying the established processes and methods for product design, and ensuring process compliance.
  • Develop and exploit strong relationships with Universities, Research Centers.
  • Identify R&D opportunities and lead efforts to secure funding.
  • Contribute to driving technical leadership:
  • Contribute to mentoring, coaching, and training the team
  • Contribute to developing design tools and processes
  • Lead design reviews
