About the role

Permanent full time opportunity.

  • To effectively provide an efficient and accurate administrative service through the timely provision of medical transcription and typing services, along with a range of valuable support duties as directed as part of the administrative team within the General Surgery Program.
  • Successful applicants will be required to provide confidential, efficient and effective client focused administrative support to specialist Consultants, Staff and Patients who utilise the various clinical and non-clinical services within The Prince Charles Hospital.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health’s values:

  • Complete functions associated with the waitlisting of patients, bookings for procedures / appointments, managing procedure / appointment cancellations, rescheduling and removals from the waiting list using the relevant information systems in a timely manner.
  • Provide medical typing and transcription support to the staff specialists. Make corrections and/or alterations to typed correspondence as required and assist with other typing and administrative support functions as required.
  • Communicate with medical and other staff to ensure delivery of the dictated transcripts within prescribed time requirements.
  • Effectively liaise with employees at all levels and disciplines within the organisation, external medical practitioners, government departments and the public in relation to the core business of the Program.
