BWXT IS CURRENTLY SEEKING AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT FOR ITS ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES LOCATION IN LYNCHBURG, VA!

BWXT is People Strong, Innovation Driven - be part of BWXT’s innovation hub. BWXT’s Advanced Technologies (AT) group researches, designs, and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, nuclear rocket propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for both internal and external customers.
The Administrative Assistant is critical to the success of our current and emerging programs. By providing effective administrative support, this role will allow the department’s technical and managerial staff to focus their attention on achieving the mission of the department. This position will report directly to the Administrative Resource Supervisor.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma/GED is required.
  • Prior experience with Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and performing internet research is required.
  • Must be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to use sound judgment and discretion when working with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must be highly organized with proven problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player with a high degree of professionalism and polish.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and energetically with all levels of staff, guests, and other external parties.
  • Must have strong knowledge of and ability to use various applications and office equipment to efficiently accomplish work.
  • Must be able to work in an “open office” environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry boxes, supplies and/or furniture up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLSETS:

  • Previous experience in an administrative support role.
  • Advanced Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
  • Microsoft Teams and Visio knowledge.
  • Working knowledge and experience with SAP.
    Pay: $43,000.00 - $63,000.00
    The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $43,000.00 and $63,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed ‘at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative assistance to assigned AT Directors and departments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate and monitor the execution of tasks assigned by various departments.
  • Systematically compile and organize information and reports within assigned department for distribution to other user groups.
  • Maintain department filing and records management systems.
  • Make travel arrangements and prepare/submit expense reports.
  • Schedule meetings and manage conference room calendars for department personnel.
  • Order and maintain adequate office and breakroom supplies.
  • Act as a point of contact for assigned department.
  • Support AT reception personnel as needed. This may include, but not be limited to, answering incoming calls, receipt/distribution of mail and deliveries, and visitor processing and escorting.
  • Undertake small projects under guidance from department personnel and Administrative Resource Supervisor.
  • Prepare Power Point slides for various presentations.
  • Support event planning and execution of AT events and tours.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
