Description:
The Oncology/Haematology department are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our administrative team within the Day Treatment Unit (DTU) at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford. This post would suit someone who particularly enjoys a patient facing role as a key element involves welcoming and dealing with patients visiting the unit to receive their treatment and providing admin support to the clinicians.
Back-office responsibilities include updating the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) ensuring all appointments have been booked. You will need to possess good communication and interpersonal skills, be proactive and be a good team player. To be a member of the Day Treatment unit (DTU) and provide a comprehensive administrative support to the DTU nurses and service based at the Churchill Hospital and efficiently managing the processes underpinning the service: management of our databases (EPR, ARIA) chemotherapy delivery across day services, helping with patient queries and booking transport.
Be able to have sensitive and compassionate manner with patients and relatives who are in relative states of emotional distress in view of delicate nature of the disease area.

IN SUMMARY:
Use EPR to capture all patient activity daily within DTU; this includes being able to complete waiting lists, admissions/discharges, ward attenders and appointments.
Have thorough knowledge of 18 weeks Referral to Treatment in relation to patients and how this applies to patients being referred to DTU.
Answer the telephone and take messages from patients, relatives, doctors, allied health care professionals etc and deal with any queries as appropriate.
Ward Clerk responsibilities in DTU including greeting patients and assisting with transport queries
