NRECA is currently seeking an Accountant I to join our electric cooperative headquartered, we are searching for a highly motivated individual with top-notch critical thinking and software application skills for entry-level accounting. This position will provide assistance to staff managers on special projects, financial reporting, and computer software support.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree or Similar in Accounting required.
Clerical and IT experience preferred but not required.
Previous cooperative or utility experience is a bonus.

  • Intermediate skill levels in computer technology, MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Responsibilities:

Within the limits of established policies, assumes responsibilities as delegated by the General Manager and/or Manager of Finance & Accounting for the following activities:

  • Performs human resources, accounts payable and payroll functions.
  • Assists with balancing and compiling financial information for monthly board meetings, annual meetings, and as requested by other entities under RUS guidelines.
  • Maintains necessary work papers for auditors and year-end financial reporting for various internal and external entities.
  • Cross-trains to provide backup assistance for various functions within the accounting and billing departments.
  • Assists staff managers with special projects to include preparation for annual budgets, load forecasts, construction work plans, and other financial reports.
  • Assists with annual audit by preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports and gathers requested data as needed.
  • Provides administration support for accounting and billing software and creates customized reports and data as needed.
  • Keeps informed of cooperative policies, procedures and programs. Participates in educational training and conferences as needed to improve knowledge in job related areas. Travels as necessary to receive job enhancement training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager and/or Manager of Finance & Accounting.
