Description:

Reporting to the Director of Oncology and Palliative Care, the incumbent will provide confidential administrative support, establish and maintain credible and effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, executives, and management team members. Within the role, the incumbent will exercise good judgement and independence in the performance of complex administrative support. This includes attendance at meetings, maintaining electronic calendars, making necessary arrangements for travel and conference registrations, greeting and assisting employees, guests or patients, data entry, ordering of department supplies, the ability to generate and print reports, work with Disease site (DST) chairs to coordinate DST meetings, agendas and posting of minutes, and other communications as required. Additional daily activities will be essential to accommodate evening and early morning meetings. The incumbent must have a positive attitude and superior communication skills necessary to maintain Niagara Health’s core values.
This position will focus on both the radiation and physics department, however, willingness to cross cover with the administrative assistant in medical oncology is mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

o Completion of a Community College diploma specializing in Office Administration or equivalent.
o A minimum of two years administrative experience in an administrative role (or related clerical experience) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
o Work experience in a unionized Hospital setting an asset.
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
o Demonstrated proficiency in minute-taking, transcription.
o Assistance with special event management, preparation of reports and presentations.
o Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs as well as other virtual platforms.
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work proficiently with minimal supervision.
o Comfortable dealing with the community stakeholders, the public and able to triage complaints.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Full vaccination in accordance with Niagara Health’s Vaccination Policy.
