DESCRIPTION

Gaston County Public Health is committed to protecting, promoting and preserving the health and well-being of all Gaston County residents. This position provides administrative support to the Quality and Innovation Team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a high school diploma with 2 years of administrative experience preferred including responsibility for confidential files, light bookkeeping and extensive use of standard office software. A valid driver’s license is required. Required abilities and skills: Exceptional customer service and organizational skills; Ability and willingness to learn Gaston County policies and procedures for personnel, purchasing, work orders and IT requests; Ability and willingness to learn about public health and respond in a public health emergency as needed; Ability to prioritize duties in light of multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities:

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

  • Processing and tracking all purchases, travel, and IT service requests and work orders.
  • Processing confidential information such as personnel records, employee evaluations, FMLA paperwork and job applications.
  • Assisting staff by making purchases with County P-Card.
  • Assisting staff in budgeting and tracking expenditures in the County finance system (MUNIS).
  • Assisting with planning and implementation of programs, projects and events.
  • Assisting with communications work by coordinating creation of newsletters, posting to social media, or making updates to the website.
  • Providing support to and substituting for other DHHS Administrative Assistants.
  • Taking and preparing meeting minutes as needed.
  • Providing assistance with technology (hard or software) to staff.
