Job Title: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I
Department: County Attorney Division:
Reports To: County Attorney Office Assistant II
Pay Range: RANGE 5 Status: Full Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: The position is responsible for providing clerical support, public contact, and communication services to the Office of the Riley County Attorney.

EDUCATION:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of college-level coursework preferred.
  • Appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of requirements.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience or training which provides knowledge of Word, Full Case, Excel and other relevant computer software.
  • Typing speed of at least 50 wpm.
  • Knowledge of criminal and civil legal system preferred.

SKILLS:

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks as they come in. Flexibility in planning and work efficiently under stress and pressure. Ability to draft letters and legal documents from brief notes or instruction

Responsibilities:

  • Perform office functions to fulfill the duties of typing, filing, and photocopying as required.
  • Process, receive, sort and distribute daily mail in order to facilitate timely replies. Complete errands between the County Attorney’s office, Courthouse and District Court.
  • Receive, record and relay accurate messages to facilitate communications within the office, other agencies and the general public.
  • Greet and assist the public at the front counter in a professional manner.
  • Ensure all incoming phone calls are answered promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain the department calendar and updating as needed.
  • Confirm receipt of all police reports received from law enforcement agencies. Enter police reports into prosecutor database to maintain receipt and tracking status of report; accurate details are critical.
  • Other duties as assigned.
