Description:

In this role, you will collect and manage financial and sustainability data from agricultural businesses and/or fishing vessels for the Business Information Network (BIN). You will maintain your own portfolio of agricultural businesses and/or fishing vessels. Additionally, you will be responsible for relationship management with these entrepreneurs. Therefore, you will work closely with our BIN participants at one of our regional offices in Alkmaar, Dalfsen, The Hague, Drachten, Haaksbergen, Goes, Oisterwijk, Meijel, or Wageningen.
The Business Information Network (www.wur.nl/bedrijveninformatienet) is a network of approximately 1,500 agricultural and horticultural businesses, 100 cutters and other vessels active in fisheries, and 150 forestry companies. Around 65 administrative assistants at Wageningen Economic Research maintain this network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collecting financial and sustainability data from a fixed group of BIN companies. This data is gathered from business administration records or digitally (electronic invoices), derived from the company’s financial accounts, or through surveys with the entrepreneur. The collected data is recorded in a database and made available to colleagues for research purposes.
  • Managing relationships with BIN participants. You will prepare an annual report for the entrepreneur detailing business results and key environmental indicators, and create a digital business comparison overview in MijnAgrimatie.nl. During visits to the entrepreneur, you will explain both reports and answer any questions. At the same time, you will initiate data collection for the new year. Each year, you will also recruit a few new participants to the Business Information Network to compensate for natural attrition. For a full-time position, this will require about one day per week on the road after your training period.
