THE POSITION

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Business Administration Division is now seeking an experienced individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. This position will be responsible for coordinating workflow of the Sheriff’s Office personnel actions through close coordination with recruitment, hiring and Human Resources. This position provides administrative coordination of records management, payroll incentives and other special pay audits. The Administrative Assistant ensures personnel actions are consistent with union contracts and coordinates new hire training plans related to Business Administration payroll and human resources activities and programs. This position is a member of a very small team that is responsible for ensuring human resource activities are coordinated supporting a workforce of more than 600 employees.

They must have excellent interpersonal skills and can work well with others both internally and across departments. The ideal candidate will possess previous advanced administrative experience, preferably within a law enforcement agency, with experience in a union environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. equivalent; AND
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience related to office management or a major administrative function for a department or division.
  • Possession of an Associate degree or Professional Certification in business administration, public administration, or related field may substitute for two (2) years of required work experience.

ADDITIONAL LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS

  • May be required to possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • Will be required to pass a criminal background check conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and a post-offer pre-employment drug screen.
