THE POSITION

You will play an active role in directing the department’s Operations Team and providing support to the Department of Health’s (DOH) mission to promote healthy behaviors, prevent injury and disease, and assure the safe delivery of quality health care for all people in Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a member of the Deputy Secretary Administration’s (DSA’s) executive team, you will collaborate with the Budget Office, Procurement Office, Human Resources (HR), and Information Technology (IT) to ensure comprehensive and efficient operations throughout the department. You will provide diplomatic direction and coordination across all departmental operational disciplines, including space and facilities management, commonwealth fleet vehicles, commonwealth parking, teleworking, home headquartering, overtime monitoring and compliance, oversight of managing JNET reports, and other areas.
In this position, you will forecast and oversee the department’s commonwealth-owned and leased spaces, working closely with the Budget Office and the DSA to proactively address the need for new or reduced space based on complement fluctuations, telework agreements, and home headquartering agreements. You will have an opportunity to utilize your organizational skills to develop creative plans to address space issues such as co-location, hoteling or multi-use space, cyclical needs, recruiting challenges related to work location, and more. In addition, you will develop tools for extrapolating and analyzing data across various HR reports; brief, advise, develop policies and procedures, and make recommendations to the Deputy Secretary of Administration on all operational disciplines; and serve as project manager for unique, high-profile projects for the Executive Office and across the agency.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 2; or
  • Four years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management of staff work in public or private organization, including experience in personnel management budgeting or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
