Description:
Duties/Pligte
- Responsible for handling enquiries about postgraduate studies in Civil Engineering;
- Discussing new postgraduate candidates with potential supervisors within the Department;
- Assembling the applications received for postgraduate study for consideration by the admissions committee;
- Initial and follow-up communication related to admissions, registrations, enrolments and progress to all postgraduate students, supervisors, and the Registrar’s Office;
- Coordinating with the international office regarding applications received from international students;
- Preparing and maintaining student progress onto the University and departmental database systems;
- Handling general enquiries from enrolled postgraduate students in civil engineering;
- Assisting with administration of internal and external examination of postgraduate theses and dissertations, including coordinating documentation and organising oral examinations.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- A relevant post-matric qualification (NQF 6 or higher) in finance, administration, or project management;
- At least three years’ directly applicable experience in interaction with and administration of students or members of the public;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Excellent computer literacy with respect to word processing, spreadsheets, web navigation, and email.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Knowledge and experience of student administration within an engineering / science or technical research environment;
- Appropriate experience with Stellenbosch University’s financial systems.
