Description:

Duties/Pligte

  • Responsible for handling enquiries about postgraduate studies in Civil Engineering;
  • Discussing new postgraduate candidates with potential supervisors within the Department;
  • Assembling the applications received for postgraduate study for consideration by the admissions committee;
  • Initial and follow-up communication related to admissions, registrations, enrolments and progress to all postgraduate students, supervisors, and the Registrar’s Office;
  • Coordinating with the international office regarding applications received from international students;
  • Preparing and maintaining student progress onto the University and departmental database systems;
  • Handling general enquiries from enrolled postgraduate students in civil engineering;
  • Assisting with administration of internal and external examination of postgraduate theses and dissertations, including coordinating documentation and organising oral examinations.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • A relevant post-matric qualification (NQF 6 or higher) in finance, administration, or project management;
  • At least three years’ directly applicable experience in interaction with and administration of students or members of the public;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Excellent computer literacy with respect to word processing, spreadsheets, web navigation, and email.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Knowledge and experience of student administration within an engineering / science or technical research environment;
  • Appropriate experience with Stellenbosch University’s financial systems.
