POSITION SUMMARY

The Administrative Support Coordinator II is a staff member of the Fowler College of Business assigned to the Finance, Management and Marketing (FMM) department office. The Administrative Support Coordinator II serves as the lead to department Administrative Support Assistants and as the Administrative Support Coordinator to the three department chairs.
The position is under the direction of the department chairs and is responsible for interpreting and ensuring adherence to applicable University policies and procedures while facilitating the smooth operation of all aspects of the department office including lead direction to the administrative support assistants and student assistants.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in an academic setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Minimum 3-years of related progressive office/work experience is preferred.
  • Ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
  • Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels.
