A combination of related education and experience may be considered.

  • Post Secondary degree, preferably in Business Administration or related field.
  • A minimum two years of recent related work experience providing advanced administrative support, preferably in a post-secondary Registrar’s Office setting. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working in a student oriented office dealing with issues such as admission credential evaluation, academic advising or registration.
  • Experience working in a problem solving or assessment capacity.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to understand complex situations, predict outcomes, and determine best course of action.
  • Experience providing high level service to a diverse clientele in an office, service or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary operations, program offerings, and admissions policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software such as Adobe.
  • Accurate keyboarding skills at a minimum 40 words per minut

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Training/experience in directly related activities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Canadian and International educational systems.
  • Experience assessing both domestic and international secondary and post-secondary credentials and academic documentation in an admission office setting.
  • Knowledge of MITT policies & procedures as they relate to admissions.
  • Experience working with both domestic and international students.
  • Experience working with a student information system or admissions system.
  • Experience with video communication software (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Make independent admission decisions to admit or refuse applicants to MITT full-time programs based on established prerequisites, college guidelines, and enrolment numbers. Accountable for decisions which commit the college to a binding agreement of admission.
  • Review, analyze and evaluate student applications to ensure academic requirements and pre-requisites for admission have been met.
  • Oversee and maintain consistent and equitable assessment and decision making by applying relevant policies, practices, and procedures to ensure a fair and equitable admission process for all applicants. Evaluate Canadian, American, and international academic and related documents for authenticity, completeness, level of study, equivalency, and possible transfer credit.
  • Assess academic credentials at the secondary and post-secondary levels, including the assessment of diverse educational backgrounds from education systems worldwide.
  • Authenticate official documents according to established Admission procedures.
  • Recommend alternative academic pathways and options to applicants who do not meet program admission requirements.
  • Process admissions-related requests, such as program re-entry, deferral and withdrawal.
  • Maintain student data and application information in the application portal, CAMS Student Information System and other required systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Utilize and modify existing database queries to determine if applicant files are complete and ready for review; update application statuses and decisions as needed.
  • Work closely with the finance team to coordinate details for funded students to ensure access to funding from sponsors or scholarships.
  • Administer program wait lists and monitor seat capacity quotas.
  • Perform a full cycle of tasks for MITT High School including but not limited to: attending recruitment events, assessing, admitting and registering eligible students, pre-arrival communications etc.
  • Support other secondary program admission and administration as required (e.g. DSFM -Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine, secondary access programs).
  • Provide a professional level standard of communication throughout the selection process regarding requirements, application status, next step and admission decisions. Liaise and provide clear communication with internal clients at MITT, departments, faculty, staff and students as well as liaise and communicate with external contacts and representatives from other post-secondary institutions, funding and sponsoring agencies, external organizations, recruitment agents, and the general public.
  • Work with the Associate Registrar, Coordinator, Admissions and other members of the Admissions team to identify process and procedural challenges and contribute to finding departmental and inter-departmental efficiencies and improvements in admission policies, regulations, practices and procedures.
  • Provide admissions knowledge and training to Admission Assistants and practicum students.
  • Ensure adherence to college and legal requirements regarding the privacy and confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Research, develop and maintain a comprehensive collection of current and accurate information related to foreign credential and educational system analysis; determine equivalency for admission purposes.
  • Maintain a high-level of knowledge regarding MITT’s programs, admissions policies and procedures in order to provide outstanding service.
  • Manage the re-entry process for previously withdrawn students who want to return to complete their program.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities related to credential assessment and international or domestic education.

The Admissions Officer is responsible for the organization, planning, implementation, control and evaluation of an efficient and comprehensive system of admission for MITT’s full-time post-secondary programs, English Language Institute programs, and MITT High School. The position is responsible for overseeing and maintaining a high standard of applicant selection by adhering to established admission requirements. The Admissions Officer adjudicates applications and admission records in a consistent and equitable manner, including managing the ranking and selection process for competitive programs. The incumbent plays a key role in ensuring that critical deadlines are met and maintains up-to-date knowledge of admission policies to ensure accuracy and transparency of the admission process.

  • The term position begins as soon as possible to September 5, 2025 or the day before the employee replaced returns to work
