About the Role

• Develop innovative and creative opportunities to increase the engagement of carers and families on the acute inpatient wards, thereby improving the outcomes for consumers, carers, families, staff and community.
• Serve as a positive role model to carers, families and staff and a source of information and education from a lived/living experience perspective
• Provide direct peer support to carers and families, building their capacity for the caring role, by engaging in individual and group peer support, advocacy and education activities.
• Co-facilitate relevant support groups, deliver skills training and evaluate carer-specific programs
• Actively identify areas of improvement to the service and the inpatient environment by advocating for a carer and family sensitive and inclusive culture in all service practices, procedures and frameworks.
