Description:
We are looking for a dynamic clinical pharmacist with extensive NHS post-registration experience, to help us deliver fantastic advanced-level pharmacy care to our Emergency Department (ED) based at the Northern General Hospital.
This post to further develop skills in emergency care. You will be responsible for the clinical service to ED, and have involvement with the MDT across the department relating to clinical governance, patient care and medicines safety. As well as significant post-registration experience, you’ll also need a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent) alongside excellent clinical leadership, interpersonal and communications skills. Ideally, you’ll also have Independent Prescriber status or be willing to undertake the course.
The role also comes with plenty of opportunities for you to develop and grow into a fantastic ED pharmacist. Opportunities include in-house training, mentoring and leadership development. You may also be involved in service improvement across the directorate.
Delivering, developing and evaluating clinical pharmacy services to ED at STH in accordance with the objectives set by the Principal Pharmacist in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs.
Attend ED governance meetings and huddles.
Produce and implement guidelines, protocols, PGDs and SOPs.
Participate in the education and training of trainee pharmacists, other pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals.
Perform independent pharmacist prescriber role (when completed relevant training).
Support pharmacy service areas in the department, this may include dispensaries, technical and medicines information.
Contributing to clinical pharmacy services, including evenings and weekends.
