Description:

An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen within our Gastroenterology service. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner/Trainee Practitioner to join our Gastro team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You will work closely as part of our dynamic Gastro team within the Trust.
Ultimately the Practitioner will act as an expert resource and senior clinical nursing lead providing leadership and consultancy alongside the Gastroenterology Clinical Director, the Consultant Team and Gastro Nurse Specialists to develop and implement best practice in the management of Gastro Patients. Gastroenterology services have inpatients across 2 sites a, we have an established IBD and Liver service. We are part of the Hepatitis C Network and have specialty nurses in these areas.
The gastro Team is also closely linked with the Nutrition service and there will be opportunities to develop skills in these areas. Gastro services at LTHTR are undergoing change; this role is a key part of a transformation to develop new pathways and service development.
The Practitioner will act as an expert resource and senior clinical lead by providing leadership and consultancy as well as develop and implement best practice in the management of Gastroenterology conditions in accordance with local and national policies. The Practitioner will be utilising advanced skills and knowledge to assess, manage and treat patients with a Gastroenterology presentation.
You will be responsible for the education and professional development of the Gastroenterology Specialist Nurse Team, contributing to the delivery of educational programs, delivered by the organisation and outside providers as appropriate. They will lead on practice and service development through the application of research and evaluation within the specialism. It is expected that 75% of the role is clinically based. This will be done in collaboration with medical, nursing and AHP colleagues

To practice autonomously with a high level of accountability at an advanced clinical level in the direct delivery of high quality care, making critical clinical decisions based on advanced clinical skills assessment.
Plan and manage complete episodes of care, working in partnership with others and delegating and referring as appropriate to optimise health outcomes and resource use, as well as providing direct support to patients and clients.
To provide clear leadership and direction to support both the medical and nursing teams acting as a role model for the Trust, presenting a positive image to patients and staff.
Advocate and contribute to the development of an organisational culture that supports continuous learning and development, evidence-based practice and succession planning.
Critically engage in research activity, adhering to good research practice guidance, so that evidence based strategies are developed and applied to enhance quality, safety, productivity and value for money
